History of Lenox
Lenox is a small New England town, nestled in the heart of the Berkshires in
Western Massachusetts. Local historic attractions include Tanglewood, the
summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Shakespeare and Company’s
international campus, and Edith Wharton’s Mansion, The Mount. But the fun
doesn’t stop there! Ventfort Hall and Museum and the historic Berkshire Scenic
Railway Museum celebrate the Gilded Age of the 1890’s in Lenox.
And if you are into art, just a short drive away in Stockbridge, Ma, you will find
Daniel French’s country home, Chesterwood, where the sculptor of the Minute Man
and Abraham Lincoln memorial has left many plaster sketches and models for your
viewing pleasure, and the Norman Rockwell Museum which houses the world’s
largest collection of Rockwell art and many of his most beloved paintings.
